You’re probably sick and tired of hearing about how content is king, but for those of us in the realm of Internet marketing, we just can’t stress this enough.
Not only is your brand’s content a powerful tool, its role may be shifting and evolving in the coming year. Here are some things to consider when creating a content strategy so you can get the most out of your Internet marketing.
1) Who is creating your branded content?
If the answer is nobody, you’ve got a problem. It’s not enough to simply hope good content will materialize. You must have a strategy in place to see it through.
Whether you have someone on staff, in-house or contracted helping you with content, make sure this person (or people) really understand the story behind your brand. Only then will they be able to craft content that truly captures your brand identity.
2) Consider ROI
There must be a return on your marketing investment and it needs to be measurable. From capturing leads to targeting potential customers at all levels of the sales funnel, content needs to be tailored to the audience you are trying to reach.
3) Evaluate channels and platforms
How is your brand’s content being spread? This is the time to think about where your efforts are producing the greatest results.
Next, consider what platforms or channels are not producing results and evaluate them to determine whether you need to improve them or cut your losses. There’s no point putting all your resources into something if you see no results from it in the end.
4) Make your content mobile friendly
Smartphone use is only increasing and in the coming months, it will continue to do so. Consumers like to get their content in different ways and it’s crucial for brands to make sure they create content that can be consumed on all devices.
Make sure that your customers are getting the same experience when they interact with your brand online, no matter what size screen they are using.
To get the most out of your content strategy, really think about where you want your brand to go and how you want it to grow in the New Year. When you follow these simple tips for maximizing your content, your Internet marketing will be loud in 2014!
