ID-10079769How To Create Brand Messages That GET NOTICED

When it comes to establishing branding for your company or business, the “message” should be carefully taken into consideration and well thought out.

Marketing messages must not only capture an audience’s attention (immediately), but they should also compel them towards and action.

What action you desire them to take depends on what you are trying to accomplish, whether they are a visitor to your brand’s web site, actually shopping in your retail location or sharing your product or service with a friend.

As online marketers that work with business owners and brands, we have encountered lots of marketing messages over the years.

The most effective marketing messages incorporate some aspect of the following three things.

Follow these tips to create effective brand messages that get noticed.

1. Create Messages that Line up with Customers’ Core Values

If you are trying to market your product or service, it makes sense that you would want to highlight its main features. Sometimes this causes brand messages to fail to connect with audiences. Instead of focusing on your product, think about your customers.

Ask these questions:

  • What is important to your target customers?
  • What are their values?
  • What do they want out of the experience of using your product or service?

When you take time to understand your customers and align your messages with what matters to them, you’ll be able to better connect and engage with them around your brand messaging.

2. Make Marketing Messages that Can be Easily Shared

A main driving force in your marketing is customer word-of-mouth. In order to make it easier for your audience to share your marketing messages, you must create messages that are easily shared.

One way to do this is to keep your brand marketing messages simple. Try to compose a message that is just one or two sentences. You want to be able to tell your story in 50 words or less.

Another way to do this is to create a community of raving fans

Create a marketing message that gives your audience an idea of what it is you do and what your product or service is all about. After you have settled on a marketing message that demonstrates this in a simple way, revisit the rest of your marketing content. Does this message seem clearly expressed across all your marketing efforts?

If not, make the changes to see that it is more unified and simple.

3. Write Marketing Content that Gets Your Audience Excited

In life, we often experience sensory overload because of all the various messages and information that comes our way. This can cause consumers to check out and ignore your messages.

To keep your audience from ignoring you, create exciting messages. Be inspiring. Create a feeling of energy and excitement that makes audiences take notice.

Use action oriented messages. This is always better than using passive language because it helps consumers feel the desire to act as well.
