Whatever your company’s social media strategies are, you better be including effective images.

And lots of them. That’s because today’s internet marketing is increasingly image driven.

Your average internet user lives on small, quickly digestible bits of information.

They aren’t sticking around to read monolithic blocks of text.

You need to hook them with an image quick, or your content will fall victim to short attention spans.

That’s just the way it is today. There’s about a zillion studies from reliable sources backing that up.

If you want to grow your followers, hook them with a pic.

Here’s a few ideas for effective pics.

1.) Put A Pic In All Your Posts-

Everything you put out there needs at least one pic. It doesn’t matter if it’s your company’s Facebook, blog, or email, include a pic.

Get your camera and start practicing.

You need to get good enough that you can produce good, original pics for your content frequently and consistently.

2.) Don’t Get Boring-

Sure, you can take a pic of your product against a brick wall and post it, but who’s really going to care?

You need to take pics that incite some kind of feeling in your followers.

Even a simple “that’s neat” response is better than nothing.

Emotion is the key to good pics. Inspire some kind of emotional response with your images.

3.) Diversity-

You need to mix up your pics. Incorporate different people and interesting places into your images.

Nobody wants to see the same slightly altered version of the same pic every time they read your email or visit your social media.

You can also throw in some graphs and charts, or even a cartoon to get some variety.

Show that your company has some soul by showing where your product is made and who’s making it.

Don’t take your pics lightly, but also don’t get so serious you stop posting interesting variety.

4.) Don’t Make It About You-

Including yourself in a pic isn’t necessarily off limits, but keep perspective. You’re writing content for your company and your product.

Don’t try to merge your individual personality with your brand.

It’s not about you. Your company’s internet marketing platforms are not the place for you to become an internet sensation.

5.) Images Can Be Useful, Too-

Part of your company’s internet marketing strategy is educating and informing your followers about your product and services.

This is great way to incorporate images. Human beings are visual creatures, and we do most of our learning through what we see.

Include educational images and videos regularly in your content. Has someone started using your product in a particularly innovative way?

Share it and give them a shout out. Your followers want to learn new ways to use your product that make their life easier.

6.) Don’t Over Do It-

Just like you don’t want to use giant blocks of text in your posts and emails, you also don’t want to include too many images, either.

Post no more than three in general.

There are exceptions, of course, but don’t post so many images your Facebook and emails become a chore.

7.) Calls To Action-

After you post a great image, give your followers their next step. You’ve got their attention, so why not follow up with some options.

Put some ordering taps in there and ride your images to some sales.

8.) Don’t Mess Up On Pinterest-

A post about pics isn’t complete without mentioning Pinterest.

A lot of marketers make the mistake of using Pinterest as a spot to promote their products.

It’s a lot more than that. It’s a place to reach out to your community of followers.

Use it for more than just adspace. If you don’t you’re wasting an invaluable resource.
