Every company has to figure out what works for them when it comes to online marketing. Blogging is a proven way to drive traffic and build lasting relationships with your customers, as well as reaching out to new ones. But while some businesses get great results from their blog, some fall short of expectations because their blog isn’t optimized.

Do you want to use your blog as part of your Internet marketing strategy to convert more leads? It’s not just about having a blog or filling it with content anymore.

Presentation and design are just as crucial a part of blogging as having great content. If your company’s blog isn’t performing, applying some of these ideas might help you get better results as you convert.

Where to Put the Sign Up Button- Your sign up button should stand out, wherever you’re putting it on your blog. Putting it at the bottom of your post is a good spot, as people who spend the time reading your post to the end are more likely to sign up for your email list.

That being said, The top of a post and the sidebar are also good spots for calls to action like a sign up button.

Do you Have Easy To Use Forms?- Don’t ask for much information. If you start asking for addresses, phone numbers, and all kinds of vitals, you can be pretty sure you’re going to get nothing. Put your form right at the top of your post to get it seen.

Forget about challenge-response questions to prevent bots and spammers. Chances are, you don’t really have that big a spam problem, do you? They’re irritating. Let people know they’re signing up for email with a disclaimer. You should also be up front about how often they’re going to get emails from you.

Create Cool Calls To Action- Stop using the old standbys and come up with something more interesting and appealing. That means trade in “buy now”, “watch video”, and “sign up” for something more creative. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Instead of “buy now”, you could say, “get your stuff now,” or something like that.

Love to Link- You shouldn’t be all over the place with your links. Don’t use up a lot of your space sending people away from your blog or website. Eliminate all the unnecessary links you can to unclutter your blog. Links can be a huge distraction and wave off visitors, and that’s the opposite of what you’re trying to accomplish.

Experiment to Find What Works- You should try new things from time to time on your blog. You can change up your color scheme, change up your sizing, and try moving stuff like your subscribe and share buttons to different spots. Rotate static images out in favor of animation or vice versa. It is a common technique in retail stores to change the store’s layout on a regular basis to prevent customers feeling stagnation when they enter. The same thing applies to internet marketing.

Condense, Condense, Condense- Today’s attention spans are notoriously short, and this is nowhere more evident than on the internet. Edit your posts down to the core content and get your point across. If your visitors are bored, you’ve lost them. Keep them interested and hooked on the material by keeping it on target.

Strive for Easy Navigation- You want your visitors to be able to get where they want on your blog without having to spend too much of their time searching for it. Because, they won’t. Chances are, they’ll get frustrated and just click away altogether. Make sure you’re set up in a clear and easily navigated fashion. Don’t make your users fumble through your blog to find what they are looking for. They’ll just go to your competitors to find what they need.

Create Credibility- Build trust with you readers with some testimonials. List any awards your product or business has received. Share positive reviews from third parties. Don’t overdo it, just share a few to show satisfied customers.

Giveaways- Free stuff is always a motivator. Offer your visitors a coupon or first access to product in exchange for signing up for your email list. Giveaways are a great way to generate chatter online. People want to tell their friends and loved ones about free stuff they might enjoy or find useful. You can never go wrong with a good freebie.
