“When you think of the blur of all the brands that are out there, the ones you believe in and the ones you remember, like Chanel and Armani, are the ones that stand for something.” – Ralph Lauren

Business is all about Branding, a Brand is to a business what a reputation is to a person.

Whether it’s a large corporation or a small local business, every company needs to understand the importance of branding.

A brand is what makes your organization unique…it’s what sets you apart from the rest.

Could you use a little help in the branding department? Here are four easy tips that will help you understand what needs to happen so you can take your branding to the next level.

1. Figure out who you’re talking to

This is key. Understand that audience is everything when it comes to marketing, branding and public relations. You have to understand who you want to talk to before you can create a brand they will respond to.

Maybe your product or service can be marketed to a wide range of people. Maybe it’s more suited to the needs of a small niche. Either way, you should be able to describe that audience.

Until you know who your audience is and how they communicate, you can’t build a brand that resonates with them.

2. Clearly define your goals and objectivesTop Brands Loud Media Solutions

Once you know who your audience is, you have to decide what it is you want them to do. That’s where goals and objectives come in.

Think about it, all these great companies have a strong brand right?————–>

So ask yourself “what am I trying to accomplish?” with this brand. How do you want your brand to make people feel?

What words should come to mind when people hear your brand?

These are all important questions and as you begin outlining your goals and objectives, you will start to see the answers become more clear.

3. Poll your audience

Often business owners are too close to their brands to see things that might be glaringly obvious.

Talk to friends and family. Talk to strangers. Carry out a poll or survey to your email database or  Facebook. You can seek different opinions to capture a sample of what people think.

Don’t feel like you have to give every opinion the same weight, but it’s good to test the waters when developing a brand.

4. Get Inspiration from Someone you Admire

We’re not saying to be a copycat. But it’s fine to get inspired by those brands you aspire to emulate. Take a look at what is working for them and model it.

If a well-known brand is doing a great job at one aspect of its business, there’s no reason why you can’t learn from their success and implement similar strategies.

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Branding is not something you do once and then you’re done. A brand is a constantly evolving thing and if you can create a good foundation for yours, it should be able to grow and change through the years.
