Complete Google+ Design Guide (with All Image & Photo Sizes)

It doesn’t matter if you have a large company or a small one, if you are trying to promote your brand and connect with any type of audience, it’s important to have a presence on Google+.

With all the social media platforms cropping up these days, it can be challenging to stay current on the regulations and design specifications. That’s why we wanted to share some handy information that will help you design your Google+ page for business.

Before you can create a Google+ page for business, you must first have a personal Google+ profile. Once you have your personal Google+ profile set up, you can progress with the page for your business or brand by clicking on the Create a Page link on Google+.

Google+ Pages - Create a Page

You will be prompted to select a category for your brand or business. There are five main categories for Google+ business pages. These include:

  • Local Business or Place – This category is for local businesses such as stores, restaurants, hotels, etc. You will need to supply the primary phone number for your physical business. If you have already set up your business as a Google+ Location page, the same information will be used for both pages. We also wrote this post with 7 tips on how to optimize your Google+ local business page.

  • Product/Brand – As a product or brand, examples of pages might include automobiles, clothing or accessories lines, or electronics. If this applies to you, choose product/brand and add your information. You’ll also be asked to choose the category that is most applicable to your product or brand.

  • Company, Institution or Organization – This category is for companies, institutions such as schools or universities and organizations like nonprofits. If this applies to you, you will also need to choose which specific category your page should fall under.

  • Arts, Entertainment or Sports – Pages for things like movies, TV programs, books and sports organizations should go in this section. Again, more detailed categories are offered and you can choose which one fits best for your page.

  • Other – For pages that don’t seem to fit in any of the previous categories, Other is a good option for you. When you choose Other, you will also have to specify whether there is any innappropriate content on your page depending on a user’s age.

It’s important that you pay careful attention to the Google+ Additional Terms of Service in order to learn about rules and regulations concerning issues such as Authority, Access, Content, Data, Contests and Suspension & Termination.

After choosing your category, it’s time to customize your page!

You will have the opportunity to add photos such a profile picture and a header (similar to your Facebook banner picture). Choose photos that are great quality and best represent your brand or business.

We wanted to share this handy list of photo size guidelines that will help you customize your Google+ business page.
